Grown in the Pacific Northwest, alder is a fantastic hardwood. Light in color, with a grain similar to cherry. Alder can be used with a clear coat finish or stained to deep rich tones. Since alder lacks the pink undertones of cherry, beautiful browns can be achieved. Alder is also available “knotty” for a rustic appearance.
Cherry wood naturally has the most beautiful grain patterns of any wood. In its’ new and natural state, is a soft pink/yellow. As it ages, it quickly ages to a rich red/brown.
The whitest and most durable of our offering. Maple has a tight grain pattern, sands to a “smooth as glass” finish, and is what we use for all our painted finishes. Because of the tightness of the grain, we recommend using only lighter toned stains to avoid “blotching”.
Oak is an extremely durable wood, and is probably the most popular wood used in furniture and cabinetry. It is characterized by its distinctive grain pattern. We offer both red oak and quarter sawn white oak.
Rich in color from tan to deepest brown, sometimes even little streaks of purple and green. Walnut is arguably the most beautiful of domestic lumber. We prefer to see this simply “clear coated” to bring out the best of walnut’s natural beauty.
The hardest, heaviest and strongest of American hardwoods with a grain similar oak, and natural colors from pale cream to deep brown in a single board.
